What is Nuclear Medicine?
Nuclear medicine is a branch of medical imaging that uses small amounts of radioactive material to diagnose and determine the severity of or treat a variety of diseases, including many types of cancers, heart disease, gastrointestinal, endocrine, neurological disorders and other abnormalities within the body.
Who are we
DR HR Morkel Inc. is a family-run business that has a mission to improve health care by staying abreast of the latest innovations in nuclear medicine and molecular imaging.
Dr Hendrik Roux (Heinz) Morkel opened the doors to his practice in Panorama medical centre in 1993 after completing his Mmed in Nuclear Medicine at the University of Stellenbosch. He did his undergraduate training at University Stellenbosch and Tygerberg hospital before starting work in the Nuclear Medicine department at Tygerberg hospital. He was the first student from Stellenbosch to complete his Mmed in Nuclear Medicine. Since 1993 he has opened satellite practices and currently has practises located at Cape Gate, Somerset-West and George Mediclinic
